Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is the beginning of the Christian life and the journey of discipleship. It is the gateway to the Sacramental life of Christians. In Baptism a person’s life is united to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3-11), and in this union any responsibility for sin, original or actual, is forgiven. Baptism frees us from sin and makes us members of the Church, able to engage and share in the proclamation of Christ for the world (see also CCC #1213 ff.).

What is needed to have my child baptized at St. Catherine Laboure Parish?

We ask that you register in our parish 6 months prior to when you would like to have your child baptized. If you belong to another parish, you must have a letter from your parish stating that they give permission for the baptism to be held in our parish. You will need to come into the office to fill out paperwork and bring with you the birth certificate of the child to be baptized and it must be the actual certificate and not a copy. The parents and godparents will then need to attend a Baptismal Class either in English or Spanish. The godparents will need to bring a letter from their parish saying that they are in good standing and are recommended to be godparents. Baptisms will only be celebrated on the third Saturday of the month at the 8:30am Mass. There is a $50.00 fee.
