HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL OF US!

All of us are those that are baptized into the Church. Yes, today is the birthday of the Church because Pentecost is when the Apostles began sharing the message of Jesus with the world, and since we are the Church, it is our birthday too.

Did you wear red to celebrate? We wear red because the Holy Spirit came as wind and fire, two very powerful elements. The wind moves things and cannot be controlled (except by God) and fire gives light and strength. Jesus was no longer with the Apostles, and they felt afraid and not sure what to do but when the Holy Spirit came, they received the gifts of the Holy Spirit and had courage and started teaching about Jesus. We also hear that the Holy Spirit gives wisdom and unity so that we can share the love of Jesus with others. When the Apostles went out to give the message of Jesus, they only knew their own language but yet everyone in the crowd, and there were many that spoke other languages, understood what they were saying. This was truly the Holy Spirit working within them and this shows that the message of Jesus was for all people not just one group.

The Holy Spirit works in our lives, we first receive him in baptism because we get new life through the Holy Spirit and in our Confirmation, we are strengthened by the Holy Spirit. Pentecost reminds us that the Spirit helps us live our faith every day. You might want to listen a little closer to what the Holy Spirit because he will help you make better choices. A simple prayer asking for guidance is a good way to start your day so that you will have strength and guidance to get you through the day. So, to each of you today may you have a very Happy Birthday and celebrate together as a family.(PC)

Domingo de Pentecostés

FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS A TODOS NOSOTROS!

Todos nosotros somos aquellos que hemos sido bautizados en la Iglesia. Sí, hoy es el cumpleaños de la Iglesia, porque Pentecostés es el momento en que los Apóstoles comenzaron a compartir el mensaje de Jesús con el mundo; y dado que nosotros somos la Iglesia, ¡también es nuestro cumpleaños!

¿Te pusiste algo rojo para celebrar? Vestimos de rojo porque el Espíritu Santo descendió en forma de viento y fuego, dos elementos sumamente poderosos. El viento mueve las cosas y no puede ser controlado (salvo por Dios), mientras que el fuego otorga luz y fortaleza. Jesús ya no se encontraba físicamente con los Apóstoles, por lo que ellos sentían temor y no sabían con certeza qué hacer; sin embargo, cuando llegó el Espíritu Santo, recibieron los dones del Espíritu, se llenaron de valentía y comenzaron a enseñar acerca de Jesús. También escuchamos que el Espíritu Santo nos concede sabiduría y unidad, para que así podamos compartir el amor de Jesús con los demás. Cuando los Apóstoles salieron a proclamar el mensaje de Jesús, solo hablaban su propio idioma; no obstante, todas las personas que conformaban la multitud —entre las cuales había muchas que hablaban otras lenguas— comprendieron lo que ellos decían. Esto fue, en verdad, obra del Espíritu Santo actuando en su interior, y demuestra que el mensaje de Jesús está destinado a todas las personas, y no solo a un grupo específico.

El Espíritu Santo obra en nues- tras vidas: lo recibimos por primera vez en el Bautismo, pues a través de Él obtenemos una vida nueva; y en nuestra Confirmación, somos fortalecidos por el mismo Espíritu Santo. Pentecostés nos recuerda que el Espíritu nos asiste para vivir nuestra fe día tras día. Quizás desees prestar un poco más de atención a lo que te susurra el Espíritu Santo, ya que Él te ayudará a tomar mejores decisiones. Una sencilla oración pidiendo su guía es una excelente manera de comenzar el día, pues te brindará la fortaleza y la orientación necesarias para afrontar la jornada. Así pues, a cada uno de ustedes: ¡les deseo hoy un muy feliz cumpleaños! Que puedan celebrarlo juntos, en familia.(PC)
